Why I’ve created the Mindful Movement Festival

Mindful Movement Festival

Man, I miss other people.

As we many of us are feeling these days, that simple hug, shared high-five, and many other little gestures that marry touch and movement, feel so precious and yet so far away.

I’ve been craving that contact, yet am committed to doing my part to stay safe for the collective well-being of our world. To stay positive and grounded, even in uncertainty.

The enemy of positivity through this time is proving to be inaction. When I am not moving, in creation, and in connection (even through a screen), I feel this loss in my bones.

Which is why I felt the fervent desire to DO SOMETHING POSITIVE in this time and for this world.

Movement artists inspire us to see beyond what feels ordinary and pedestrian. They lift us up and inspire reverence for the exquisite ways a body in motion can seem miraculous. They help us to find joy in dark times, are the language of celebration in times of plenty. Movement is the universal language of all human (and animal) interactions; it transcends language, borders and beliefs. It is truly a gift in times of division, to heal and unite us all.

The Mindful Movement Festival  (May 24 – 30, 2020) is a virtual festival bringing together thoughtful movers from many modalities; dance, fitness, yoga and pilates, as well as creative explorations and embodied meditation practices used by our artists to create their own work.

The goal of this festival is for us all to feel empowered, invigorated, and balanced; in mind, body, and soul. It is your chance to discover a new way of moving your body, connecting with like-minded others and supporting an amazing collective of teachers.

In addition, MMF feels strongly about giving back, so 10% of the profits will be donated to the Artist Relief Fund, helping performing artists financially through the shutdowns caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The cost to join is $60. Link to event HERE

I hope you will join us in moving and grooving today, in order to build a better tomorrow for us all.

How is the content presented? Zoom? Do we have to participate live or will they be saved? Thanks!

Hi Robin, I'm sorry for the delay! Yes, the festival was entirely on Zoom, and there were recordings that can be accessed for a week after the live sessions. I'll be posting one of my classes here on my site soon! You can check it out :)
